After Completion of this Course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician
- Learn about federal and state regulations related to pharmacy operations and patient privacy
- Develop knowledge of pharmaceutical products, dosage forms and routes of administration
- Learn how to accurately interpret and fill medication orders
- Understand the principles of inventory management and quality control in a pharmacy setting
- Develop skills in handling and compounding sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products
- Learn how to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare providers
- Develop an understanding of basic pharmacology and medical terminology
- Understand the role of pharmacy technicians in the healthcare team and how to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals
- Prepare for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
